ACTWC offers yoga classes for children. Classes are either individual or group. We also provide "Yoga for the Special Child". Call our office (844-6611) to find out more information and for yoga rates.
Individual yoga therapy sessions for children offer a combination of traditional and modified asanas (yoga poses), specialized breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques that are tailored to the unique personality, development, and needs of each child. Yoga exercises are conducted in a supportive and playful manner, which allows us to work on body awareness, increased mobility and coordination, and self esteem. The actual program will vary for each child, dependent upon the initial evaluation and consultation and the interests and needs of the child.
Group yoga classes provide the opportunity for children to practice yoga as part of a group of peers. Together we will experience the physical benefits of yoga, while working on communication skills, decision-making, and peer relation skills. As in the individual sessions, relaxation exercises and self-management are important components of the class. Yoga games, music and special yoga props will be integrated with more traditional yoga techniques for well being.
Instructor: Jill Braly
Jill is trained in traditional hatha yoga and is certified by Yoga Alliance. Jill draws upon a variety of yogic styles and traditions to create dynamic sessions. She is also a certified instructor of Yoga for the Special Child. You can contact her at Jillyoga@actwc.com.
